The Nigerian Army is inviting eligible Nigerians to apply for the Short Service Combatant (SSC) Commission officers program. Both civilians and serving military personnel can apply. However, only those military personnel sponsored to civilian institutions by the Armed Forces will be considered.
Once they complete their training and are commissioned as officers, SSC officers will serve in either the Combat Arms, which include Infantry and Armour Corps, or in the Combat Support Arms, such as Artillery, Engineers, Signals, and Intelligence Corps. Is the Nigerian Army Recruitment Form Out for 2024?
Yes! The 2024 recruitment application form for the 87 Regular Recruit Intake is now available. The registration portal is open from May 3, 2024, to June 7, 2024.
For DSSC applicants, the application portal opened on January 19, 2024, and closed on February 23, 2024. You can check the DSSC shortlisted candidates online.
Basic Requirements for the 2024 Nigerian Army 87 Regular Recruit Intake
Citizenship and Marital Status:
- Must be a single Nigerian citizen by birth.
- Possess a National Identity Card or NIN slip.
Health Standards:
- Must be medically, physically, and psychologically fit according to Nigerian Army standards.
Legal Status:
- Must have no criminal convictions.
Birth Certification:
- Possess a valid birth certificate or age declaration from the National Population Commission, a hospital, or a Local Government Council.
State of Origin:
- Valid certificate of state of origin required.
Height Requirements:
- Males: At least 1.68 meters tall.
- Females: At least 1.65 meters tall.
Age Limits:
- Non-trades applicants: 18-22 years old.
- Trades applicants: Not older than 26 years as of June 30, 2024.
Educational Qualifications:
- At least 4 passes in WASSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB in no more than two sittings.

- Must possess a Trade Test/City Guild Certificate.

General Instructions for 87 Regular Recruit Intake Candidates
To ensure a smooth and fair recruitment process, please adhere to the following instructions:
- Candidates will not undergo a pre-selection computer test.
- There are no designated special centers; recruitment takes place without them.
- Screening is eliminated at the zonal level.
- All screenings will occur in the candidate’s state of origin.
- Candidates should not bring electronic or recording devices to the recruitment venue.
- Candidates must be free of tattoos and bodily inscriptions.
- Candidates must present all original educational certificates.

- Falsification of results will lead to immediate withdrawal, even during training.
