University of Lagos popularly known as (UNILAG) is one of the top universities in the country, it attracts a high number of applicants each year. However, securing admission is no small feat. One of the key hurdles is meeting the “cut off mark.”
This post will explain the cut off mark, how it’s calculated, and what you can do to improve your chances of being accepted as a UNILAG student.
What Is A Cut Off Mark?
A cut off mark is the minimum score set by an institution to determine if an applicant is eligible for admission. For UNILAG, this includes scores from the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by JAMB and the Post-UTME screening test conducted by the university.
But, even though the cut-off point is significant, other considerations, such as your O-level scores, also come into play when applying to universities.
UNILAG Cut Off Mark – How Is It Determined?
The cut off mark for UNILAG is set by the institution’s admission board, which includes representatives from various departments and faculties. Several factors influence this decision:
- The scores obtained by applicants in the UTME examination.
- Grades from O’Level examinations such as WAEC, NECO, or their equivalents.
- Scores from the Post-UTME screening conducted by UNILAG.
- Specific requirements set by different departments and faculties.
- The total number of students the university is authorized to admit.
UNILAG Cut Off Mark for 2024/2025 Academic Session
The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has established its JAMB cut-off mark at 200 and above for the 2024–2025 academic year. This indicates that the UNILAG Post UTME screening form is only open to applicants who scored 200 or above.
- Merit Cut Off: 52% or higher (combined UTME and post-UTME scores). However, aspiring candidates are recommended to aim for 65% or higher to improve their chances of admission.
- Catchment Cut Off: 60% or higher (combined UTME and Post-UTME score) for applicants from specific states, depending on course of study.
