If you’re a Nigerian citizen eager to serve as ad-hoc staff during elections, you’re in the right place. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened its portal for the engagement of election staff, in the upcoming ONDO and EDO State Governorship elections.
Available Positions
INEC offers several roles for those interested in contributing to the electoral process:
- Supervisory Presiding Officer (SPO)
- Registration Area Center (RAC) Manager
- Presiding Officer (PO)
- Assistant Presiding Officer (APO)
- Registration Area Technical Support (RATECH)
Position/Eligibility Requirements
Before starting your application, carefully review the specific requirements for each available position:
- Supervisory Presiding Officer (SPO): Must be a Public/Civil Servant on Grade Level 10-14 or an INEC staff member not engaged in other duties (GL 10-14).
- Registration Area Center (RAC) Manager: Must be the head of a school or a staff member (GL 07 and above) of the institution hosting the RAC.
- Presiding Officer (PO) / Assistant Presiding Officer (APO): Candidates must be serving Corps members, penultimate students from Federal/State tertiary institutions with IT knowledge, permanent MDA staff with an OND qualification or on GL 07-10, INEC staff on GL 07 & 08, or former corps members (not later than 2021).
- Registration Area Technical Support (RATECH): Applicants must have an IT background and be suitable INEC ICT Staff (State & HQ) not engaged in other duties.

How to Apply for the 2024 INEC Adhoc Staff Recruitment
If you’re ready to create an account and register on the portal, follow these simple steps:
- Go through the eligibility criteria for all available positions to determine which role suits you best.
- Click on the “Register” button and follow the on-screen instructions to create your account and set up a password.
- Once logged in, you’ll be prompted to fill out an application form. This form is divided into three sections: Personal Information, Contact Information, and Bank Details. Make sure to enter your details accurately, especially your name as it appears on your BVN, since edits are not allowed once the form is submitted.
- Ensure your photograph is a recent one with a plain background and is no larger than 5MB.
- Enter the contact details of your two referees, who can vouch for your credibility.
- Check the attestation box to confirm the accuracy of your information. Your details will be validated by your institution, organization, or referees.
- Double-check all the information you’ve provided, as all submissions are final.
- After submission, make sure to print your acknowledgement slip, which will be required during the final verification process.
What You Need Before Registering
Before you begin the registration process, ensure you have the following:
- A functional email address.
- An active mobile phone number.
- Your personal bank account number.
- A recent passport photograph with a white background (not larger than 5MB).
- Contact details for two referees, including their email addresses and phone numbers.
- A valid Staff ID Number or Student ID Number.
- NYSC Callup Number for former corps members (not earlier than 2018) and for current corps members, 2022.
- A copy of your highest qualification in .pdf format.
- A valid means of identification in .jpg or .jpeg format.
Important: Deployment for the positions will be based on your state of residence. Ensure you select your current state when filling out the application.
Note: Applicants must not belong to any political party or have shown support for any candidate or party. Additionally, they must reside in the state they select, except for RATECHs.
