If you want to join the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) for the 2024/2025 academic year, you need to know the admission requirements, especially the cut-off marks. FUTA has announced the cut-off marks for this year, and they are important for the admission process.
FUTA 2024/2025 JAMB Cut-Off Mark
For this academic session, FUTA has set its minimum JAMB cut-off mark at 180. This means that all candidates must score at least 180 in their JAMB exam to be eligible for the Post UTME or Direct Entry (DE) Screening exercise.
FUTA Post UTME Eligibility
To be eligible for FUTA’s Post UTME, candidates must:
- Score at least 180, which is the cut-off mark for this session.
- Select FUTA as their first choice during UTME registration.
- Have at least five O’ level credit passes in relevant subjects, including English and Mathematics, achieved in no more than two sittings.
- Be at least 16 years old by October 1, 2024.
- If they did not initially choose FUTA as their first choice, they must change it to FUTA via the JAMB website, provided they scored 180 or more.
FUTA Departmental Cut-Off Marks for 2024/2025
The cut-off marks for each course differ based on how well applicants perform each year. Meeting or exceeding the cut-off mark for your chosen course improves your chances of getting admitted, but it doesn’t guarantee admission. Generally, a higher score enhances your chances of standing out in the selection process.

How to Calculate Your FUTA Aggregate Score Using the Online Screening Method
Here is how to calculate your FUTA aggregate score:
Step 1: Weightage
Your total aggregate score is determined by combining your Post-UTME score and your O’Level results. The weightage is distributed as follows:
- Post-UTME Score: 75%
- O’Level Results: 25%
Step 2: Calculating Your Post-UTME Score
To calculate the percentage contribution of your JAMB score to your aggregate:
- Divide your JAMB score by 400.
- Multiply the result by 75.
Example Calculation:
- Suppose you scored 250 in JAMB.
- (250/400) × 75 = 46.88
This means your Post-UTME score contributes 46.88 points to your aggregate.
Step 3: Calculating Your O’Level Score
Your O’Level results are converted to points based on the following grade points:
- A1 = 80 points
- B2 = 72 points
- B3 = 67 points
- C4 = 62 points
- C5 = 57 points
- C6 = 52 points
Here’s how to calculate the O’Level contribution:
- Pick your five core subjects.
- Add up the corresponding points for your grades in these subjects.
- Divide the total by 5.
- Multiply the result by 25.
Example Calculation:
Let’s assume you have the following grades:
- Mathematics: A1
- English: A1
- Physics: A1
- Chemistry: A1
- Biology: A1
The total points would be:
- (80 + 80 + 80 + 80 + 80) = 400
Now, divide by 5:
- 400/5 = 80
Next, multiply by 25:
- (80/100) × 25 = 20
So, your O’Level results contribute 20 points to your aggregate.
Step 4: Adding It All Together
Finally, combine your Post-UTME score and your O’Level score to get your overall aggregate.
Example Final Calculation:
- Post-UTME Score Contribution: 46.88
- O’Level Score Contribution: 20
Aggregate Score = 46.88 + 20 = 66.88
